Join the Meeting House for a series of events happening on Presidents Day. Alexandrians have publicly celebrated George Washington’s birthday since at least 1780, when a Birthnight Ball was conducted here. Washington’s birthday celebrations now focus on Presidents Day – this year on Monday, February 20. These are a few of the events happening for the celebration. You may find other events, including a symposium on Washington-related topics, birthnight banquet and ball, walking tours, etc. at washingtonbirthday.com.

Wreath Laying Ceremony, 11:00 AM
A wreath laying ceremony involving a dozen patriotic organizations will be conducted at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution in our churchyard burial ground, beginning at 11:00 AM.

Open for Tours, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
The Meeting House, Stabler-Leadbetter Apothecary, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and other historic locales will be open for tours, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The tours are FREE and open to the public. Come by and hear some stories about the history of the Meeting House.
