The four weeks of Advent are always busy and full of activities – concerts, programs, family events, shopping and more. In the midst of all this, let us set aside time to prepare for and honor Christ’s coming into the world! We hope you will pull out your calendar and consider joining us for a few of the activities planned at the Meeting House. Whether you are a member, a friend of the church or just passing through Alexandria, you are welcome!
Discover the Good News This Christmas Season
Join us this Advent as we journey through the Gospel of Matthew in a special Sermon Series and Bible Study. Matthew introduces Jesus as a radical rabbi—teaching a new way to be human. But he is also the long-awaited Messiah, ushering in the kingdom of God, and even more, “Immanuel”—God with us. Together, we’ll explore this powerful biography of Jesus, uncovering layers of meaning and hope that go far deeper than we ever imagined. Whether you’re new to the story or have heard it many times before, come and experience the good news in a fresh and transformative way.
The word “Advent” means “coming,” or “drawing near.” During this season, Christians throughout the world prepare for the anniversary of Christ’s first coming through reflection on our yearning for wholeness and salvation. Such reflection can serve to heighten our sense of anticipation for the Christ Child’s birth, which we will celebrate on Christmas. The Advent season also reminds us that Christ will come again at the end of time to reign over heaven and earth in majesty.
