About Us

The vision of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House (OPMH) is to provide a living reflection of God!s unconditional love, compassion, and mercy. We are called to be the body of Christ in the world, reflecting Jesus’s message of radical hospitality and unity. We seek to be an authentic Christian community of grace and humility in a contemporary world that is often polarized, disorienting, and neglectful of those most in need—the very people Jesus calls us to serve. We see unmistakable signs of hope in our world; of people searching for connections, community, and civility. For those people—for all people—we seek to provide a Christian alternative to a divided world. By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to proclaim the Gospel so that God’s people will live into faith, hope, and love.

In pursuit of that vision, we will focus our collective efforts on:
• Growing community. We are called as Christians to be rooted in community, building strong and growing communal ties (1) within OPMH and (2) with the broader community in which we live
- Internally, we focus especially on Christian formation, providing opportunities for worship and education grounded in the Bible and Christian values and helping people find meaning and purpose as disciples on their Christian journey
- Externally, we reclaim evangelism as the loving outreach beyond our congregation, focused on listening and striving to build community with all of our neighbors amid a seemingly distant, isolating world
• Grace toward all. We are called as Christians to approach all of our neighbors—no exceptions—with authentic Christianity, respectfully creating a space open to (and focused on) shared values and civil discourse
- We will offer a safe space for finding common ground—a place in which we:
• Foster respectful listening, assume positive intent, and proactively bring people together
• Hold firmly to our Christian values as we respectfully engage our neighbor
• Prioritizing the vulnerable, suffering, and marginalized. We are called as Christians to serve the vulnerable, suffering, and marginalized—those people most in need in our community. As part of that call, we will work collectively with others to remedy injustice
• Action-oriented external focus. We are called as Christians to be action-oriented and externally focused, intentionally going out into the world as we live our faith and proactively engaging our neighbors
