J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis: “Seeing the Gospel Through Narnia and Middle-earth: How Christian Imagination Deepens Faith”
September 27 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
The Christian faith is more than a set of doctrines to believe—it is a reality to be lived and a story to be entered. C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien understood that imagination is one of God’s gifts for helping us perceive the truth, beauty, and goodness of the gospel. Through Narnia and Middle-earth, they invite us to encounter themes of redemption, providence, courage, hope, and faithfulness in ways that engage both heart and mind.
In this two-week class, we will explore how Lewis and Tolkien understood the relationship between imagination and truth, why they believed stories can shape faith in profound ways, and what their writings continue to teach Christians about following Christ in the modern world. Prior familiarity with either author is helpful; longtime readers will discover new depths in these enduring classics.
