Holiday Sharing is back this year!
Sunday, December 8.
Last year, responding to an urgent call from the city, we stepped up to sponsor 50 families—an all-time high! Additionally, we sponsored dozens of seniors, disabled adults, and foster teens. All these things have made a tremendous impact in the lives of many in Alexandria who would not experience the joy of the holidays without your efforts. Can we beat our own record this year?
There are so many ways to participate
Choose one or more ways to support this year’s program that best fit your budget and available time, joining in a wonderful collective effort to bring joy and many practical items to people in need in the Alexandria community during the Christmas season.
01
Sponsor a Family
You may choose to sponsor a large family (3+ children) or small family (1-2 children). Some families request gift cards for each member and others will submit Wish Lists, with specific items for each family member. Plan to spend $125+ for each child in a family, plus a total of $100 of grocery cards. Individuals can join together to sponsor a family (for example, each taking one child). We can even do the shopping or wrapping for you! See Personal Shoppers under the Important Things to Know below.
If a bicycle is requested, the total for that child will likely exceed $125, but you may request that another donor supply the bike
02
Purchase a Bike or Scooter
Many of the families request bikes for their children. Locks and helmets should also be provided with each bike. You can sign-up to provide one or more bikes for a family.
03
Sponsor a Senior or Disabled Adult or Foster Teen
Seniors and Disabled Adults receive a $50 grocery card and a $75 gift card to Target, Walmart or Amazon. Teens receive a total of $125 worth of gift cards to Target, Amazon, Walmart or other teen-friendly store/site.
04
Foster Teen Gift Bags
In addition to receiving gift cards, each Foster Teen will receive a Gift Bag stuffed with teen inspired goods (the types of items you put in a stocking).
05
Grocery/Gift Cards or Cash Donations
Grocery Gift Cards (Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, Aldi, Lidl, and Wegmans) are needed by every family and adult. Requested cards should be in $25 or $50 denominations.
Other Gift Cards (Amazon, Visa, AmEx, etc.) can be donated in any denomination.
If you wish to make a Monetary Donation, please go directly to the Alexandria’s Child Fund.
06
Giving to Meet the Greatest Need
If you are willing to help fill in gaps by giving to meet the greatest need, that’s wonderful!
Important Things to Know
Deadline to bring all Holiday Sharing donations is noon, Sunday, December 8.
If you want to drop off items prior to the 8th, please call the church office to make arrangements. Please do not leave any items—especially gift cards—without making arrangements or leaving it with Vicki or another staff member.

One more option: Donate a New Unwrapped Toy
Many families who apply for the Holiday Sharing program are not selected due to the high number of requests. Families that are not selected are invited to pick out toys from the Toy Drive
Please bring unwrapped toys to the Church Office by December 8. No registration necessary, just bring your unwrapped toy to the office.
